Hello!!!!!!

Hello there – I’m Dr. Watson Gruen-Newton. You can just call me Watson if you like! I was born March 1st, 2011. My brother Sherlock and I were found in a box just outside Kayenta, Arizona. We were only about four days old and very hungry. A very nice lady stopped to see what was in this box on the side of the road, and imagine her surprise when she saw us staring up at her! She took us to Second Chance Center for Animals in Flagstaff, Arizona. When we got there they found that my right front leg was pretty mangled. (They don’t know if it was by injury or from birth…and I’m not telling.) The veterinarians cleaned us up, gave us some medicine (and a bandage for my foot!) and one of the technicians took us home to “foster” (that’s a fancy word for taking care of us).

The doctors and staff at SCCA took such great care of me and Sherlock. We grew and grew and grew some more. In fact, we grew so well that Sherlock found his forever home just three months later. I had to stay at Second Chance for a bit more as the doctors tried really hard to help me with my leg. They tried all sorts of things to get it to work right, but after a while they just knew it wasn’t going to be right. So, the decision was made, and on June 16th, I became the newest member in the Tripawd Club. I am so much happier now and able to get along almost as good as the other puppies.

Currently, I live with my Momma Donna in Flagstaff and go to Puppy Kindergarten every Wednesday night. Momma Donna says that soon I can graduate to Puppy Grade School. Momma Donna works at Second Chance Center for Animals as their Finance Director (she says that’s a fancy term for Head Bean Counter…. I don’t know what beans are or why she counts them – but…). So, I get to go to work everyday and see all my friends that took such great care of me. Momma Kristen and I go on an adventure every Sunday morning (I just LOVE the goat cheese – or chevre – and asparagus frittata at Wildflower Bread Company) and sometimes we go see my good friends at Bookmans. My brother Tucker keeps telling me “cats rule and dogs drool” (he’s a cat, by the way), but I think he’s just jealous of my big boy collar.

“So, why a blog?” Tucker asked me the other day… “Well,” I said, “maybe there is a Tripawd, Quadpawd or even a Bipawd that has a question – that I have the answer to. So then they can just write to me at DearDoctorWatson@gmail.com and I can give them an answer.”

“Harumph,” he said, “That just might work…”

  1. Hi Dr. Watson! Arizona tripawds ROCK– we’re down in Tucson!
So glad to hear that you’ve got good people to take care of you and feed you fancy people chows! 🙂

  2. OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!

I can’t believe it there is finally another dog here I was beginning to worry that I was the only one there are so many stupid cats around here and they drive me nuts, sometimes I have to tell Dad to put me on the run just to get me out of here so that I can get away from OOOOH! A SQUIRREL!

OK Back. I get a little excited sometimes, Dad keeps saying that I have A…D….something or other, I can never remember the last letter. Nice to meet you cuz, welcome to the Fam. If Momma Donna is as nice as Dad and Momma Jen, you are going to be JUST FINE.

  3. Zander calm down!!! Just remember my cousins you are and always will be younger than I :)….and think about it you have the cats while I live here with 3 boys (2 just a tad older than Zander). Me and momma are outnumbered!! Watson welcome to the clan!! This clan is far from normal lol. Tell Momma Donna she needs to come to see us here in Michigan before the snow starts flying. But trust me from what I know of Momma Donna she is very nice and caring just like Momma Cathy.

  4. Hi Dr Watson, you sound as happy and hoppy as me 🙂 My name is Eddie and I lost one of my back legs in June because of an accident. Even though I’m soooooooo much older than you, it’s not slowed me down that much and believe me, I’m still able to get up to all sorts of mischief!! I live in the UK with my pawrents and sister and my canine brother Floyd. I’m pleased to hear that you are doing so well and boy, you look like a professional receptionist! More photo’s please 🙂

    1. Hi Eddie….. Thanks for the note – I’ll post more pictures soon. We went to Puppy kindergarten tonight and mom took lots of pictures. I was sad to hear about your accident, but it sounds like you are up and hopping just fine. Your friend Watson.
